Good trailer length/width for tractor & bush hog?
I’m thinking of a 16′ 2′ dovetail that is extra wide (6’10 between fender wells) and will be towed behind a 2004 Dodge 3500 dually, 4×4, with the Cummins and 6 speed. I know the bush hog will stick out a little, but that’s fine.
This 10,000 GVW setup works well for my Kubota L3130 with LA723 loader. Get 6′ long loading ramps instead of the usual 5′ ones for less of an incline, and add springs for easier lifting and lowering.
With the ramp up, you don’t lose flat space at the back, i.e. no wasted length. Also, if you get a BH later, you have to be careful of dragging (the angle of departure on most CUT hoes is very low). With that dove tail on there, do you ever have any problems with the backhoe hitting while trailering? Looks like it might scrape at the bottom.
