FAQ – What Is The Difference Between A 2-Line & 3-Line Wet Kit
For heavy-duty trucks and trailers, it’s crucial to know which type of wet kit you’ll need; there are 2-line and 3-line wet kits, each with its own set of fittings and instructions.
2-Line Wet Kit
A 2-line wet kit, also known as a hydraulic system, is best used in low-use applications because it consists of air lines, a pressure hose, and a suction hose. The more stress this system is subjected to, the more likely it is to fail.
3-Line Wet Kit
The 3-line wet kit is the go-to hydraulic system for a wide range of heavy-duty truck applications, including dump trucks, low boys, combo systems, and dump trailers. It includes a suction hose, pressure hose, and additional return hose for a reliable hydraulic system.
How much does a wet line kit cost?
The cost of a new wet kit is approximately $1500.
How much does it cost to install a wet kit on a semi?
The cheapest option (existing pto/split fuel tank) was just over $1100.
What does wet kit mean?
Wet kits (also known as wetline kits) are hydraulic hoses and fittings, reservoirs/tanks, filters, control valves, pumps, and PTOs that are installed on trucks to operate dump trailers, lowboys, live bottom trailers, and other specialty applications.
How much does a wet line kit weigh?
Subject: How much weight does a wet kit add to a semi? the actual pump and lines, I’d say 150-200 lbs. the big thing is that if you need to lift a dump trailer, you might need 100 gal of oil (100X10=1000 lbs.)
What is dual line wet kit?
A 2-line wet kit, also known as a hydraulic system, is best used in low-use applications and consists of air lines, a pressure hose, and a suction hose. The more stress this system is subjected to, the more likely it is to fail, so these systems typically have shorter warranties.
How does a wet kit work on a semi?
Wet Kits (or wetline kits) are kits that are installed in trucks or semi-trucks with PTO (Power Take Off), allowing the PTO to raise the load or perform any other operation you desire once the hydraulic fluid has entered the cylinders.
What is a PTO on a semi truck?
PTOs (power take-offs) are mechanical gearboxes that attach to apertures on truck transmissions and are used to transfer engine power to auxiliary components, most commonly a hydraulic pump.
What is a power take off unit?
Because the gear from the power take-off unit connects to the flywheel or crankshaft in the engine, rotating power becomes hydraulic power with a PTO system. Turning the wheel or crankshaft builds up a charge in a hydraulic pump.
