How do you adjust a Marvel Schebler carburetor?
Make adjustments as needed to bring the idle RPM back to 650-750 on a Marvel-Schebler carburetor, as on an automotive carburetor, with a set-screw on the low-RPM stop at the throttle arm on the carburetor. Repeat the idle mixture lean-out check. You want no more than a 50-RPM rise on lean-out.
How do you adjust the governor on a Farmall C?
The governor is adjusted (with the engine off), according to the shop manual, by:
- Remove the clevis pin from the governor rocker shaft arm/ carburetor throttle rod connection by pushing the speed lever all the way forward.
How does an updraft carburetor work?

What causes a carburetor to not idle?
If adjusting, cleaning, or replacing a carburetor does not solve a stalling problem, the underlying cause is most likely a weak fuel pump, clogged fuel filter or fuel line, or bad gas (too much water or alcohol).
How do I adjust the idle speed on my carburetor?
Idle rpm range should be 950 to 1050 rpms. Adjust idle mixture by slowly turning idle mixture screw clockwise until the engine runs poorly.
Why do we need to check and adjust the idle speed and mixture?
The importance of idle mixture adjustment cannot be overstated; optimal engine operation at low speeds is only possible when proper fuel/air mixtures are delivered to each of the engine’s cylinders. Move the carburetor mixture control slowly and smoothly toward the idle cutoff position.
Is a Farmall 350 a good tractor?
Every Farmall tractor is a good tractor, but the 350 is old and may or may not have significant problems. The oil pressure is fine; it will start out high and then drop as the oil heats and thins.
How does a tractor governor work?
A mechanical governor detects changes in engine load using gears and flyweights inside the crankcase and adjusts the throttle accordingly, closing the throttle and limiting the amount of air-fuel released into the engine. As the engine load increases, the crankshaft spins more slowly.
