Versatile
Versatile is a Canadian agricultural equipment manufacturer that was founded in 1946 by Peter Pakosh and his brother-in-law Roy Robinson. It was sold to Buhler Industries in 2000 due to regulatory concerns, and Russian combine manufacturer RostSelMash bought 80% of the company.
History
The Versatile Company was founded in 1948 as The Hydraulic Engineering Company, and a new factory was built in Fort Garry, Winnipeg, Canada in 1964, producing 5000 swathers in that year alone. During the 1970s, the Versatile 700, 800, 850, and 900 series of tractors were introduced.
Versatile Noble
Noble was a Canadian tillage equipment manufacturer that was bought by Versatile in 1979 and marketed as Versatile Noble for a time before the tillage division was spun off as New Noble, possibly when Versatile was purchased by Ford Tractors.
UK Market & Preservation
High-horsepower tractors were mainly imported under the Fiat brand, but they didn’t suit UK conditions because the design suited USA/Canadian conditions of fast shallow tillage work. There are a few examples in the UK that are being preserved or used by smaller farms.
